We suggest planning your trips by choosing your destinations when they are not totally in season. Try to avoid July and August as every European worker is on holiday in those months. We always went to the Riviera in September after the crowds were gone. to London in April, still cool but great for the theater and shopping. Italy is great in May and October. And of course your budget does dictate as well, but you will find that off-season travel is not only fun, but more affordable. We have stayed in many different hotels in Europe all the way from the very deluxe Carlton in Cannes, to such a tiny room in Lyon France that we had to literally crawl over each other in the bed to get into the bathroom!
